We receive no government funding and rely on contributions from our members and supporters. With these funds we provide financial support to economically weaker families with SMA, for:
- Assistive devices — wheelchairs, standing frames, spinal braces, splints, cough-assist machines and BiPAP.
- Surgery — such as spinal surgery for scoliosis.
- Hospitalisation — for chest infections, pneumonia and other emergencies.
Pawan, a child from an economically weak background, was supported by Cure SMA India when he was hospitalised with pneumonia, and later for his neck and spinal braces.
Who can apply
Families of a person with a confirmed diagnosis of SMA who are registered with Cure SMA India and who cannot afford the item or treatment themselves.
What you will need
- A copy of the genetic report confirming SMA
- A prescription or recommendation from the treating doctor
- A quotation or estimate from the supplier or hospital
- Proof of income or other documents showing financial need
